Render

- 15/07/2013. Full house Render started this week however it should have started the week before but due to rain this was not possible as you need a clear and fine day to apply the render.

Initially we were going to render the house after handover but the site supervisor advised that if you can get the renderer to complete it now, you would not have as much mess and headaches later on after the build, especially when the driveway and tiles have been put in. Wisdom homes offered their own renderer as already he had the required insurances etc and since the scaffolding was already erected, all that needed to be done was for the renderer to come in and start the job.

I received other quotes as well to compare the difference in price between Wisdom's renderer and other private companies. I received mixed results but in the end it was between Wisdom's renderer and another one that I found on the internet. After having a look at existing projects for the other renderer, I decided to go with Wisdom Home's recommended renderer due to professionalism and quality of work. I would have saved a bit fo money had I gone with the other renderer but seeing that the facade and bricks are the face of the house, I'd rather pay a bit extra and get the job done properly then regret a couple of years down the track.

The top half of the house has been cement rendered first as the scafollding needs to be taken down for other work around the house. Once the cement render dries up, a primer will be applied and Acrylic Texture Coating will be applied for the end coat.

Chosen colour for the house render is Taubmans Dusty Trail and the Taubmans Stony Creek for the corbells only, just to make them stand out from the house.

Here's the pictures so far:

-21/08/2013 - Update to Render

Well when the initial render colour we chose came out too dark, we decided to either change the whole thing or add in colour contrasts to break the one tone colour effect.

The reason that the Dusty Trail colour came out too dark was because it was a Taubmans Armawall product which when mixed together with the acryllic properties of render, can change the shade of the colour when applied.

We decided to break the dark colour with a lighter colour in the end. We used Taubman's Nuance on the left front wall and returns and the two long piers at the front.

16/09/2013 - Render completed.
